Da Nang has so far recorded two pregnant women infected with nCoV. Female "patient 569", 38 years old, pregnant in the 35th week of pregnancy, has just asked the company for maternity leave. The 11-week-old "495 patient" is pregnant with her first child. Both patients were treated at the Hoa Vang District Medical Center.

Regarding the risk for pregnant women infected with CoV, according to the Ministry of Health, there is no scientific basis to confirm that the fetus is capable of transmitting the placenta during pregnancy. Researches around the world published earlier this year showed that, when testing amniotic fluid, cord blood, placenta, vaginal fluid and Covid-19 infected mother's milk, the results were negative for nCoV. Test results for throat fluids in babies born to infected mothers were also negative.

The majority of pregnant women infected with CoV have mild or moderate clinical manifestations, and a very few have serious illness. To date, there has been only one reported case of a 30-week-pregnant woman with severe Covid-19 requiring mechanical ventilation, having had an emergency cesarean section and recovering from good health.

For the fetus, recent studies of Covid-19 as well as previous studies of SARS and MERS showed no evidence of an association between these diseases and miscarriage. There is no scientific basis to show an association between Covid-19 in a pregnant woman and the fetal status with nCoV infection in the uterus or a fetus with birth defects.

However, there is also evidence that Covid-19 in pregnant women is associated with an increased risk of preterm delivery, fetal growth retardation and perinatal death (within the first 7 days of birth).

For pregnant women with Covid-19, treatment of Covid-19 should be given priority. Obstetric intervention only when there is an emergency obstetric symptom or when the mother's condition is severe, it is necessary to consult the relevant specialist. Diagnostic imaging techniques such as chest X-rays and CT scans are the same as those of a non-pregnant person, but means to protect the fetus are needed. Pregnant women infected with nCoV even cured, need to manage the pregnancy every 2-4 weeks to detect early cases of fetal growth delay in the uterus.

Treatment of threatening miscarriage and preterm labor should be based on the condition of the pregnant woman, the fetus, the doctor can use the corticosteroid drug to help the fetal lung maturation in pregnant women with Covid-19, but it is necessary. Consultation with specialists in infectious diseases, resuscitation and neonatology. Consideration of a cesarean section in case of severe Covid-19 pregnant women severely affecting lung function.

Hospitals arrange separate areas for receiving, screening and distributing pregnant women. When there are signs of suspicion of moving to the isolation examination area, perform routine antenatal check-ups and coordinate with preventive medicine establishments to take samples for testing and diagnosis.

Pregnant women, postpartum mothers come to examine (the patient), wear a mask, go to the quarantine area. Keep a minimum distance of 2 m. Cover nose and mouth when coughing, sneezing and wash hands immediately after contact with respiratory fluids.
