Summer skin care from turmeric

In Oriental Medicine, turmeric or home turmeric, cultivated turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Ginger family, native to tropical Tamil Nadu, southeastern India.

Turmeric contains the antioxidant polyphenol curcumin and alkaline turmeric essential oil that helps to reduce the acidity of gastric juices. Turmeric also helps heal ulcers, blurred scars, anti-inflammatory, is an effective stomach pain remedy.

Turmeric also nourishes skin, helps treat acne, reduces signs of aging (wrinkles), helps reduce stretch marks and also removes pigmentation and darkening. Turmeric can also be used in the mask when combined with other suitable ingredients, good for both oily and dry skin types.

Doctor Le Vi Anh, Department of Dermatology Aesthetic Skin, University Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, instructed some masks from turmeric to beautify the skin.

Rose milk and turmeric mask for dry skin: Use one teaspoon of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of whipped cream, two to three drops of rose essential oil, and 1/2 teaspoon of rose water. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, making sure the puree doesn't get clumped. The mixture should be smooth, after preparing, take a brush and apply a large amount of the mixture on the face and neck. Apply for at least 25 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat dry with a clean towel.

Green bean yogurt and turmeric mask for oily skin: Use 1 teaspoon of green bean powder, one teaspoon of yogurt, one teaspoon of turmeric powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of water. Mix all ingredients together, if too dry add more water accordingly. Apply the mixture evenly and use a brush to smooth over face and neck, wait at least 20 minutes to dry. Wash your face with warm water and gently dry your face.

Lemon honey and turmeric mask helps to brighten the skin. Using 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of honey, one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, remove any seeds. Mix all ingredients together and apply the mixture evenly over face and neck with a brush. Let dry for 20-30 minutes, rinse with warm water and gently pat dry face.

Coconut and turmeric mask (used for acne skin). Mix 1 teaspoon of coconut oil, 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and apply on face and neck and rinse with warm water after 20 minutes.

Tomato and turmeric mask (used for tanned skin). Mix two teaspoons of turmeric powder, one teaspoon of pureed tomato and 1/2 teaspoon of yogurt to make a paste. Apply evenly to the treated skin or areas that are tanned. Relax for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water.

Turmeric and honey mask for dark circles under the eyes is a mixture of 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, one teaspoon honey and 1/2 teaspoon yogurt. Use your hands to gently rub the dark circles on the skin, leave for about 15-20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Egg white and turmeric firming mask. Mix the egg whites, one teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil, and apply evenly to face and neck, let dry for 25 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Apply two to three times daily for faster and more effective skin improvement.
