Gui Yuna burst into tears when it came to the accident that caused her to lose her right leg at the age of seven and her past being bullied at school. She is now a champion of fitness and a former Olympic disability athlete.
Having competed in the long jump at the 2004 Athens Olympics, Gui is a newcomer in the bodybuilding industry and won first place in November 2020.
The image of Gui on crutches on stage and her strong will inspired to go everywhere and attracted great attention of the Chinese media.
"My expertise and fitness may not be the deciding factor for me, but because of my confidence and courage," said Gui.

Gui spent her first years with her mother in Nanning City. Her father died before she was born. The champion shared that she did not remember the fateful day that caused her to lose her right leg, but she could not forget the time she was bullied at school. She is often teased, insulted and even physically hurt.
"I cried when I was pushed by my classmates the first time but I got used to it and told myself that I will still stand firm thanks to my strong heart," Gui said.
Gui fostered and trained to enter the handicapped sports village in China, then represented the country to the 2004 Olympics and ranked 7th in long jump.
Gui also tried his hand at high jump and archery. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Disabilities, Gui was honored to participate in the torch relay.

After retiring from competition in 2017, before working with a home-decoration company, Gui struggled to find a job due to discrimination. She was rejected because recruiters thought she was not suitable for their image.
"I applied to 20 companies and were rejected," Gui said.

Besides winged comments for Gui about her success, there were mixed opinions calling for her to give up.
However, Gui is not an easy person to give up. Cô đã mạnh mẽ vượt qua cú sốc đầu đời để nhìn nhận khiếm khuyết trên cơ thể một cách bình thường.
She was used to having no one leg left that she was surprised when others asked about it.
"Many people think that fate did not smile at me, but I do not think so. I am grateful for the events because it makes me more mature, stronger and helps make me who I am today," Gui share.
